Mission Viejo Library's local history collection includes newspapers, photographs, early community plans, new home brochures, and other ephemera documenting the city of Mission Viejo, which is considered one of the largest master-planned communities ever built under a single project in the United States. The Library also works with the Mission Viejo Heritage Committee to operate the City’s Heritage House in Melinda Park. Formerly a Mission Viejo Company new home sales center, it was the place prospective buyers came to find their dream home. Today, the Heritage House is where visitors come to learn about the people and events that made Mission Viejo “The California Promise.”
