The Inyo County Free Library was formed in 1913, serves a population of about 18,000, and has six branches. The Library has a rich collection of local history materials at the Central Library in Independence, the county seat.
The Inyo County Free Library's digital collection at California Revealed consists of texts, moving images, and audio recordings from the 1880s to the 1990s. In addition to oral histories and local news programming, the collection includes many complete issues of the Inyo County News-Letter.
