The UC Berkeley Department of Film & Media offers innovative, interdisciplinary programs leading to a B.A. in Film and a Ph.D. in Film & Media. The Department teaches students to think historically, theoretically, and analytically about film and media within the broad context of humanistic studies. Students and faculty engage with all forms of moving-image culture, including film, still photography, television, and digital media.
The Department of Film & Media, University of California, Berkeley's digital collection at California Revealed consists of moving images from the 1930s through the 1960s. The collection includes press conferences by President Eisenhower and President Kennedy, amateur films of Bay Area locations, and training films about springboard diving and foil fencing.
