The mission of the Coronado Public Library is to meet the informational, recreational, and cultural needs of the community and to actively promote reading, life-long learning, and the pursuit of knowledge. The Coronado Public Library local history collection consists of over 20,000 items including maps, photographs, postcards and printed ephemera. Access to the collections is by appointment only.
The Coronado Public Library's digital collection at California Revealed consists of moving images, text materials, and still images from 1889 to 1974. The majority of the collection consists of photographs relating to transportation infrastructure, including roadways and bridges, as well as documentation of the Naval Air Station North Island, the U.S. Army's Rockwell Field, and the first Curtiss Aviation School opened in 1910. The collection also includes home movies shot on sightseeing trips around California.
