The Bancroft Library is the primary special collections library at the University of California, Berkeley. One of the largest and most heavily used libraries of manuscripts, rare books, and unique materials in the United States, Bancroft supports major research and instructional activities and plays a leading role in the development of the University's research collections.
The Bancroft Library’s digital collection at California Revealed consists of moving image and audio recordings from the 1910s to the 2000s. These recordings include a collection of California nature films produced by the Sierra Club; home movies by the prominent environmentalist David Ross Brower featuring footage of Yosemite and Big Sur; a series of 1960s televised lectures by then University of California president Clark Kerr; film footage of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition; documentaries on the San Francisco Beat Poets; and other striking artifacts illustrating the landscape, arts, and cultures of Northern California.
