Description
In the wake of the October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, Caltrans commissioned an oral history project to document the personal and professional experiences of Caltrans employees who worked to restore the State's damaged transportation system. At the time of the Loma Prieta Earthquake Barry Loo was a Senior Transportation Engineer in Highway Operations for Caltrans District 4 office in San Francisco. In this interview Loo goes into detail about his personal earthquake experience and working at the command center at the Oak Street office. One of his duties after the earthquake was to coordinate the five incident response teams that helped control traffic in the Bay Area.
