Alternative Title
The Elsie M. Castner Oral History Project, 1998 Dixon, CA
Created Date
July 22nd, 1998
Description
The Elsie M. Castner Oral History Project was made possible by grants from the estates of Robert F. Cocklin, Ruth Castner Cocklin and others. The Dixon Public Library undertook this project in 1998 with the assistance of Chris Castaneda from CSU, Sacramento. The oral history of long-time resident Ardeth Sievers Riedel is a record of her memories about growing up in rural Dixon, CA. Her stories relate to the economic development of agriculture and ranching in early California communities. She is a descendent of the pioneer families that settled in northern Solano County before the town of Dixon was established in 1868.
