Description
Born in Weatherford, Texas Feb. 28, 1905, graduated High school, Baylor University in 1928 with a BA. Lost all in crash of "29". Came to Ontario in June 1930 and went to work for Torleys Market. After 5 years they had 5 stores and incorporated. The Ontario store burned down in 1935. It was rebuilt on Holt blvd. in Ontario. After J. M. Torley retired. Five of the managers and Ray (J.M. son) including Frank Tarkington formed a partnership and operated the markets until 1959. Also included in the interview was Franks flying associates. His B17 WWII experiences, Pattons tank division training in the desert near air base (in Calif.).
