Margaret Clark was a prominent research anthropologist and professor at UC Berkeley. She discusses her research on the health of Mexican American communities in South Si Puedes, a town east of San Jose. Topics discussed include public health, assimilation, economic hardship, attitudes towards law, housing and migratory labor, access to electricity and sanitation, recreation, agricultural labor, family relatins and patriarchal control, gender relations, attitudes towards Western medicine, religious values, education, discrimination, police brutality, and lifestyle habits including dress, culture, and language.
