Interview with Aubrey A. Williams, IBEW Electrician
In this interview, Aubrey A. Williams, the first Black electrician in International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 11 discusses his experiences working as an electrician in the Los Angeles shipyards during World War II, as well as what it was like to work out of the IBEW hall with a D Card, which kept him in the lowest pay bracket until he was able to obtain a full-time membership much later. Williams came to Los Angeles from New Orleans in the 1940's to escape the threat of being lynched.
