Description
The 1982 Asian American International Film Festival was sponsored by the National Asian American Telecommunications Association and the Asian American Film Institute. That year marked the first year that the festival, which had run for five years in New York, extended to other American cities. This recording begins with NAATA board member Elaine Kim introducing the festival, followed by a Q&A with Wayne Wang about his film CHAN IS MISSING. It is followed by KQED's Jane Muramoto introducing a slate of five short films—TATTOO CITY, SEWING WOMAN, I AM THE MASTER OF MY BOAT, MIRROR POINTS, and MANONGS—and their filmmakers. It is followed by part of a Q&A with some of the filmmakers: Emiko Omori (TATTOO and MANONGS), Arthur Dong (SEWING WOMAN), and Ruby Yang (MIRROR POINTS).
