Growing up in Westchester County New York, Mike was always a low-key individual, not really interested in activism of any kind. That changed while attending the University of Arizona in 1973 when somebody he knew was attacked and killed outside of a gay bar in Tuscon with no legal action taken on the perpetrators. His political and social activism had begun. Community LGBT Activist San Diego since 1981. President SD Pool League 11 seasons. Commissioner America's Finest City Softball League 1986. Executive Director PAWS ("Pets Are Wonderful Support", an organization that has dedicated itself to helping low-income seniors, and people with chronic illnesses and disabilities keep their pets at home), 1994-1996.
