Description
Daniel Foronda recounts his experience of being a first generation American of Mexican and Filipino heritage. Foronda grew up in the Los Olivos area of Upland and attended Chaffey and Upland High Schools. In 1959, he joined the US Air Force at age 18 and went to Lackland Air Force for training. He was selected to be in the Air Police and was stationed at Morón Air Base in Spain as part of the Air Force's Strategic Air Command (SAC). Foronda discusses B47s armed with nuclear weapons and F104 aircraft at Moron. He also recounts the experience of base alerts when President John Kennedy was assassinated and during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
