Description
In these interviews, Vivian Price a former union electrician Jane Templin the second woman to enter International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) apprenticeship who would go on to become a journeywoman, forewoman, and Vice President of the union, and Pat Williams, a union operating engineer and former Vice-President of International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 501 discuss their experiences as women working in trades in the Los Angeles area, and as part of the Tradeswomen Address the Next Generation (TANG) Project which trained youth from the LGBTQ Center in Long Beach, California to conduct interviews and videotape all the women. Women who were interviewed for the TANG Project discussed their experiences working in non-traditional fields, such as an electrician named Areana, carpenter named Cruz and Sylvia and other tradeswomen. Also included is footage taken at CSUDH archives and special collections regarding the tradeswomen archives collections.
