Description
In the wake of the October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, Caltrans commissioned an oral history project to document the personal and professional experiences of Caltrans employees who worked to restore the State's damaged transportation system. After the Loma Prieta Earthquake Caltrans asked for volunteers from outside the San Francisco Bay Area for assistance. This interview is of Caltrans Major Incident Response Team in District 7 Office in Los Angeles, CA. This interview is from two members of the team, Quint Alfafara, Associate Engineer in charge of the team, and Terry Wong, a Civil Engineer. In the interview they described what it was like to work with other Districts, working in an unfamiliar area, and working on San Mateo and San Rafael-Richmond Bridge. Their primary duty was to relieve a crew that was on loan from Caltrans District 3.
