Created Date
February 15th, 1991
Description
Caucasian female, born July 28, 1913 in Elk Grove, California, died March 1, 1996. She had many Nisei friends in the Elk Grove-Florin area and knew of racially segregated schools. She said only Florin had segregated schools despite anti-Asian feelings in surrounding areas. Frances was among three Caucasians who went to the Elk Grove Train Depot to see Japanese Americans off when they were evacuated. Her snapshots taken of that visit are included in the Japanese American Archival Collection (JAAC). She felt evacuation was necessary for the protection of internees due to hate crimes against them.
