Description
The CSUMB Oral History and Community Memory Archive contains oral history interviews conducted between 1995-2014 that relate to our local communities and the University. For decades, Fort Ord army base was the center of the community in Marina and Seaside, California, but in 1991 the base was closed, and a few years later converted to California State University, Monterey Bay. These oral histories date from this time and include conversations with community members who witnessed these changes and contributed to the transition from army base to university. The Fort Ord Conversion Project includes audio interviews with Army officers, ex-soldiers, and others about the Army, the closure of Fort Ord and the conversion to a university.
