Description
A teleconference created by the Sisters of the Presentation, San Francisco to educate members of their congregation located in various convents and residences throughout California about the Sanctuary Movement. The teleconference features a moderated panel discussion and call-in question and answer segment describing the conflicts and humanitarian conditions in Guatemala and El Salvador, the specific number of refugees from those countries located in the Bay Area, the social justice actions being taken by Catholic Women Religious to help support and meet the needs of those refugees, and the legal implications of Sanctuary work by religious congregations. Both segments are moderated by Sister Margaret Cafferty, PBVM, who served as Congregational Superior from 1981-1990.
