Description
In the wake of the October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, Caltrans commissioned an oral history project to document the personal and professional experiences of Caltrans employees who worked to restore the State's damaged transportation system. At the time of the Loma Prieta Earthquake Bob Murdock was a Landscape Maintenance Lead worker for Caltrans in Santa Maria Maintenance Yard. After the earthquake his crew did repairs to Highway 152. Morton did traffic control while the repairs were being made. He noticed that unlike most situations, the public after the earthquake was very cooperative and friendly to Caltrans workers.
