Mrs. Stewart, who was born in 1921, talks about the Big Pine Reservation, James Hill (homesteader in Fish Springs), Fish Springs, the land swap, mining, ranches, Chinese-Americans in Big Pine, land claims, Native American governance, working at Stewart Indian Reservation, Big Pine in the 1930s, and "Okies" in the Owens Valley during the Great Depression. There is mention of the Paiute Indians and the Shoshoni Indians in this recording.
