Bolsa Chica Preserve is a critical coastal wetlands sanctuary. Beginning with 300 acres purchased by the State in 1990, it has grown to 300 acres through additional gifts and purchases. It is home to a rich wildlife population including more than 200 species of birds in at least five different habitats. There is evidence of human habitation as early as 5000BC.
