Description
This portrait of vaudeville actor Bert Marshall (likely in San Francisco Bay Area for an Orpheum Circuit performance) is autographed to John Morrisey. Bert Marshall was a vaudeville actor. Based on the autograph and photographer (Frederick Bushnell), photograph may have been taken when Marshall performed at the Orpheum San Francisco, the first Orpheum theater in the country and in the Orpheum circuit. Photograph taken by Frederick Bushnell. Founder of one of the major West Coast photographic studio chains, Bushnell was originally an employee of Theodore C. Marceau. Bushnell established a chain of franchises, hiring photographers for the San Francisco studio, training them, and setting them up in various West Coast cities.
