Unit 99 was a radio program broadcast by KFBK, a radio station that was part of the McClatchy media empire that also owned the Sacramento Bee newspaper and many other radio, television, and newspapers in California and the Western U.S. The radio program featured Sacramento police sergeant Dan Meredith who recorded his nightly police beat and interviewed witnesses and bystanders of various crimes and police calls. Calls ranged from petty larceny and theft to more serious crimes of assaults, kidnapping and murder.
